If the time between seeing a lightning flash and hearing thunder is less than 30 seconds (indicating the storm is within ~10 km), stop all outdoor activity immediately and seek shelter.
After the last thunder or lightning flash, wait a minimum of 30 minutes before resuming outdoor activities.
Prior to match/training days: check the weather for thunderstorm risk via the BOM website; monitor during sessions.
FQ’s guidelines state that if matches/training are scheduled between 11:00am–4:00pm and the ambient temperature is 32 °C with ~75% humidity, the event should be postponed/rescheduled.
Note: even at lower temperatures, a session may require modification or postponement because of additional factors (humidity, radiant heat, poor ventilation).
According to FQ’s Rules of Competition, a match official may abandon or postpone a fixture if “playing conditions compromise participant safety” (which includes unsafe surfaces, excessive water‐logging, or other hazards).
Even if no specific temperature/water rule is cited, clubs are responsible to ensure the surface is safe to play/train on — if there’s standing water or the surface is badly water-logged, modification or cancellation may be required.
Decision-making: The Referee or Training Lead must assess field conditions and standard metrics (e.g., surface drainage, level of standing water, player safety) before proceeding.
The
Club understands that circumstances change and players may seek a refund of
registration fees paid.
All
requests for any cancellation of registration should be made in writing to the
Club Registrar and Treasurer.
Under this Policy any player who registersfor the coming season but does not play in part or all of the season, may be entitled to a full or partial refund of their registration fees based upon the reason for not playing out the season.
The intent of
this policy is to provide clarity regarding how refunds of registration fees
will be granted, to deliver a mutually amicable outcome for the Club and the player.

Pine Hills Football Club follows the City of Moreton Bay’s Sports Field Closures Policy to ensure the safety of players and the longevity of playing surfaces. Please check our website for field status during inclement weather.
Key Council Guidelines:
Field closures occur due to unsafe or poor ground conditions, maintenance, or renovation works.
The safety of participants and preservation of playing surfaces are the top priorities.
The open/closed status of fields is updated daily on the Moreton Bay Regional Council website during wet weather periods (until 4 pm each business day).
Clubs must not use closed fields under any circumstances and are responsible for informing their members.
Clubs may cancel activities on open fields if local conditions are unsuitable.
Council officers assess field conditions using factors such as:
Soil moisture and drainage
Rainfall and weather forecasts
Grass coverage
Usage and player impact
Fields may also be closed for maintenance or major works.
